Getting Started

Install Theme

Before You Start

  • Before you install your new theme, make sure your WordPress and any plugins you use are updated to the latest version. And just to be safe, always have a backup of your site before making updates.
  • If you’re using the Classic Editor plugin, go ahead and deactivate it first. Kadence is designed for the Block Editor, so the Classic Editor won’t work with it.
  • For existing sites: If you have a tool that automatically emails your blog posts or shares them on social media, pause it for now. Installing the theme will add a few demo posts to your site. Once everything is set up, you can delete those demo posts and turn your email or social sharing tool back on.

1. Download Your Theme

After purchase you’ll get the link to download your theme in your purchase email. Download this to your local folder.

2. Unzip the Theme Folder

Locate the folder and unzip it.

3. Install Your Theme

Go to your WP Admin dashboard. On the left-hand side menu, go to AppearanceThemes. Then click Add Theme/Upload ThemeInstall NowActivate.

4. Import Demo Template

For your website to look like the demo, you’ll need to import the demo template via ‘AI Starter Templates’ plugin. This will then import the ‘Customize’ settings, demo content, and plugins used.

NOTE FOR EXISTING SITES:
We recommend importing the demo content on all sites, even if you have an existing site. Therefore, DO NOT deselect ‘Import Content’ under Advanced Settings during this step. Importing the demo content won’t delete your existing content. After the demo has been imported, you can delete the demo blog posts.

5. Install the Plugin

After you activate your theme, if you have a new site or a site using Kadence for the first time, you’ll get the prompt to install this plugin your ‘Themes’ page. Click on ‘Install AI Starter Templates’.

CAN’T FIND THE PROMPT?
If you don’t see this prompt on your AppearanceThemes page, you can find it under Plugins on the left-hand side menu and search for the plugin via left-hand side menu. Search for: ‘AI Powered Starter Templates by Kadence WP’ then click on Add NewInstall/Activate.
Once activated, check the left-hand side menu (usually at the top): “Site Assist → Starter Templates”
